USA Vietnam War Propaganda and Military Art Collection: The U.S. government viewed involvement in the war as a way to prevent a communist takeover of South Vietnam as part of their wider strategy of containment. The North Vietnamese government and Viet Cong viewed the conflict as a colonial war, fought initially against France, backed by the U.S., and later against South Vietnam, which it regarded as a U.S. puppet state. The capture of Saigon by the Vietnam People’s Army in April 1975 marked the end of the war, and North and South Vietnam were reunified the following year. (Wikipedia)

New Zealand WW2 Propaganda Collection: New Zealand entered the Second World War by declaring war on Nazi Germany with Britain. The state of war with Germany was officially held to have existed since 9.30pm on 3 September 1939, simultaneous with that of Britain, but in fact the declaration of war was not made until confirmation had been received from Britain that their ultimatum to Germany had expired. China Korean War Propaganda Collection: On 3 October 1950, China attempted to warn the United States by way of its embassy in India that it would intervene if UN forces crossed the Yalu River. The United States did not respond as policymakers in Washington, including Truman, considered the warning to be a bluff. In late October 1950, China sent approximately 260,000 troops to fight in North Korea. (Wikipedia)
North Korea Korean War Propaganda Collection: After Korea was divided by the United Nations, both South and North Korea tried to take control of the whole Korean peninsula. There were a several small conflicts until North Korea attacked the South on June 25, 1950 which led to a full scale war. Where North Korean side was backed by China and Soviet Union against South Korea, which was backup by United Nations, leading by United States. Since 1953, there has been armistice between North and South Korea, but war has never ended officially.
USA Korean War Propaganda Collection: The United States of America (88% of foreign troops) and other members of the United Nations force (12% of foreign troops), came to the aid of South Korea in repelling the invasion, but within two months the defenders were pushed back to the Pusan perimeter, a small area in the south of the country, before the North Koreans were stopped. A rapid U.N. counter-offensive then drove the North Koreans past the 38th Parallel and almost to the Yalu River, and it was then that the People’s Republic of China (PRC) entered the war, albeit on the side of North Korea. The Chinese launched a counter-offensive that pushed the United Nations forces back across the 38th Parallel. The Soviet Union materially aided the North Korean and Chinese armies. The active stage of the war ended on 27 July 1953, when the armistice agreement was signed. The agreement restored the border between the Koreas near the 38th Parallel and created the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a 2.5-mile (4.0 km) wide buffer zone between the two Koreas. Minor outbreaks of fighting continue to the present day. (Wikipedia)

Slovenia WW2 Propaganda Collection: World War II in the Slovene Lands started in April 1941 and lasted until May 1945. The Slovene Lands were in a unique situation during World War II in Europe. In addition to being trisected, a fate which also befell Greece, Drava Banovina (roughly today’s Slovenia) was the only region that experienced a further step—absorption and annexation into neighboring Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Hungary.[1] The Slovene-settled territory was divided largely between Nazi Germany and the Kingdom of Italy, with smaller territories occupied and annexed by Hungary and the Independent State of Croatia. Italy WW2 Propaganda Collection: Italy did not participate to the second world war, before France collapsed during summer 1940. 10 June Mussolini joined Italy to the “Pack of Steel”. There has been a lot of jokes about Italy’s performance during campaign in Greece and Africa, but the truth is that Italy were not ready for war and they were lacking military material support for the troops as well as the fascistic politic has replaced competitive leaders with the political corrects ones, which caused Italian forces to suffer for a poor leadership during all military campaigns.
